I have uploaded a vintage plate from Jean Les Crudités.
French Gien Vintage Oval Plate "Les crudités" Series
We are pleased to announce the addition of a collection of lovely vintage oval plates from Gien, a long-established French ceramics manufacturer.
🇫🇷 The Illustrious History of Gien
Founded in 1821 in Gien, along the Loire River in central France, Gien quickly grew into a leading French ceramics manufacturer, incorporating British pottery techniques.
In the latter half of the 19th century, it captivated European aristocracy and the wealthy with its high technical skill and artistry, winning gold medals at the Paris World's Fairs. Gien pottery, while being everyday tableware, continues to be cherished worldwide as works of art reflecting France's rich culinary culture and history.
🥗 "Les crudités" Series: A Gardener's Tale
This time, we introduce vintage plates produced by Gien in the 1980s.
The series is titled "Les crudités (Raw Vegetables) - A Gardener's Adventure, a Story Told on 6 Plates -". It features six types of vegetables as motifs: cabbage (Le Chou), carrots (les carottes), artichokes (Les artichaux), radishes (Les radis), tomatoes (Les tomates), and fennel (Le fenouil).
<Highlights of this plate>
-
Hand-painted Warmth: The vegetable motifs are hand-colored over delicate prints, giving them the warmth and charming character unique to vintage pieces.
-
Chic Design: The rim features a double red and black line that tightens the design. In the center, a playful message is inscribed in French.
-
Table-Decorating Size: The approximately 26.5cm x 18cm oval shape is very versatile, perfect for serving salads or appetizers, as well as being an excellent single plate for fish dishes or bread.
The lovely expressions of the vegetables and the chic coloring evoke a rich French dining experience, further enhancing the appeal of your everyday dishes.
Beyond dining, it's also recommended for decorating walls as an interior accent, or for holding accessories and small items. We invite you to bring this special collection, rich in French history and warmth, into your home.
