-Using Rêve d'Argile-
〜Using Rêve d'Argile〜
I recently tried out a cup from Rêve d'Argile, which just arrived.
I've noticed that many people search for "Rêve d'Argile," and I thought many of you might be curious about its feel and texture, so I decided to post about it!
Let me start by telling you how I discovered Rêve d'Argile.
One day, I received a message from our French staff saying, "There's some cute white pottery that's 100% made in France."
When I searched on Instagram and Google, I found several photos of their atelier and pop-up shops, so I decided to take a look...
What I found were handmade plates and cups with a translucent white glaze. The shapes were beautiful, as was the perfect amount of glaze that allowed the color of the clay to show through.
I immediately asked our French staff to arrange an appointment with the artist and visit her atelier.
The artist's name is Monique, a French woman.
Rêve d'Argile, which she founded, features many delicate and pristine pieces, including cross-shaped interior decorations related to Christianity. All of them are made using high-quality clay and finished with a generous, luxurious application of glaze. When I asked Monique about the charm of Rêve d'Argile,
She said, "It's the way the glaze is thoroughly applied all the way to the part that touches the table when finishing the cups and plates. People often tell me it's too wasteful, but that's how it's done."
Everything is made by hand by a single person, so it takes time to complete each piece.
There were many different types of items in the atelier, and the staff showed me the pieces while we chatted remotely.
Everything was lovely and charming.
I almost wanted to stock every single piece I liked.
My impression when I saw the Rêve d'Argile that arrived after crossing the ocean was:
"It's not what I expected!"
This was a good kind of surprise.
Through the screen, I thought they would be heavy, but they were much lighter than I expected. The delicate and intricate Rêve d'Argile pieces were truly lovely.
Moreover, the feel of the cup against the lips was excellent.
And most of all, the soft, non-mechanical roundness of the cup was wonderful. Every time I looked into the cup from above, I felt the gentleness of handmade craftsmanship. Perhaps it's just my imagination, but the drinks inside always taste more delicious! (lol)
It's also great that they are dishwasher-safe. (Although I prefer to handwash my favorite items.)
This time, Loan Interior is the first in Japan to sell Rêve d'Argile.
I hope that this brings a little more joy and beauty to your dining tables and daily lives.
