Vintage Dessert Plate Sarreguemines La Fontaine's Fables (The Crow and the Fox)

This is a vintage plate from the Sarreguemines factory, from their Fables of La Fontaine series.

The plate depicts "The Crow and the Fox" (Le Corbeau et le Renard), showing a crow in a tree and a fox attempting to steal the cheese held in its beak.
In the original fable, the fox flatters the crow, and the moment the crow tries to sing, it drops the cheese, which the fox cunningly snatches away – a tale with a moral lesson.

However, in a surprising twist on this plate, the fox is hit directly by the cheese the crow dropped, left dizzy and knocked out!
Contrary to the fable, the plate depicts an unexpected turn of events where the fox's wicked scheme fails.
This playful humor is the plate's greatest charm.

Condition: There is crazing due to age, but no chips or cracks, and very little sign of use, making it in excellent condition.
