The openwork "panier" (basketweave) and relief adorning the rim, combined with the pale blue glaze, create an expression that is somehow ephemeral and full of grace.
Although there is no backstamp, its distinctive form and coloring suggest that it may have been made by the long-established French potteries of Saint Clément or Luneville.
