This is an antique dessert plate from the Fauvette series by Gien.
"Fauvette" means "warbler," and these birds are often seen in the south of France.
The plate vividly depicts charming scenes of warblers resting on berry vines, and wild flowers and vines. It's as if the bird is opening its beak wide to alert its companions to the abundance of berries.
The rim pattern and the central design connect, forming a single, cohesive picture.
This is a wonderful series that you'll want to display and enjoy.
Condition: There are cracks, crazing, cutlery marks, and discoloration. It is a used plate, and you can enjoy its soft antique charm.
Size: Diameter 20.5cm x Height 2cm
Period: Late 19th century (from 1875)
