Antique Dessert Plate, Badonviller 2120 B
This is an antique dessert plate from the Badonviller Pottery, 2120 series.
This antique dessert plate by Badonviller, a long-established pottery in the Lorraine region of eastern France, features a charmingly gentle and rustic atmosphere.
The rim of the plate is adorned with a garland pattern of leaves and small flowers (or berries) in a green-like hue.
This design evokes mistletoe, a motif associated with "good luck," "longevity," and "protection against evil" in Europe, giving it a simple yet auspicious and wonderful meaning.
The varying shades of green in the pattern and the small dots bordering it add depth to the overall design and a handmade warmth.
Condition: Fine crazing is present throughout, indicating some signs of use, but there are no chips or cracks, and it is in good condition.
Size: Approximately 21cm diameter x 2.5cm height
Period: Early 20th century
