Antique Dessert Plate, U&C Sarreguemines, Rouen A
This is an antique dessert plate from the U&C Sarreguemines factory, from their Rouen series.
As the name suggests, the Sarreguemines factory brilliantly reproduced traditional designs from Rouen, a city in northern France long known for its pottery.
The plant, bird, and insect motifs in the center are all hand-painted by skilled artisans.
The powerful brushstrokes unique to hand-painting, combined with vibrant yet deep colors, stand out beautifully against the white ceramic surface.
The delicate decorations on the rim also add a touch of elegance to the overall impression.
It is also recommended to display it on a wall or a stand.
It pairs well with Japanese tableware and has a strong presence that makes it the centerpiece of any collection.
Condition: There is crazing throughout and a slight stain on the back, but it is in good condition with no chips or cracks.
Size: Approximately 21.5cm diameter x 2.5cm height
Period: 1875-1895
