Antique Deep Plate, Badonviller Brunoy (C)
This is an antique deep plate from the Brunoy series by Badonviller.
This antique deep plate from Badonviller, a long-established kiln in the Lorraine region of eastern France, has a gentle and rustic charm.
The rim of the plate is adorned with a continuous garland pattern of leaves and small flowers (or berries), rendered in a color close to green.
This design evokes mistletoe, a motif considered a symbol of "good luck," "longevity," and "warding off evil" in Europe, and carries an auspicious and lovely meaning despite its simplicity.
The variegated green pattern and the small dots outlining it add depth and a handmade warmth to the overall design.
Condition: Craquelure has spread throughout, but it is in very good condition with no chips or cracks.
Size: Approximately 24cm in diameter x 4cm in height
Period: Early 20th century
