Antique Deep Dish - Longwy Muguet (Lily of the Valley) B
This is an antique deep plate from the Longwy Muguet (lily of the valley) series.
The lily of the valley is also known as "Kimi Kage Sou" (shadow-hiding grass) in Japanese, and it evokes the image of a beautiful, modest woman who cherishes and secretly watches over her loved ones from afar.
With its rustic and understated beauty, the lily of the valley is famous in France as "the flower that brings happiness and brings back happiness." May 1st is "fête du muguet," a day when lilies of the valley are given to loved ones. Also, because it resembles a veiled bride, it is often given at weddings.
The design evokes the modest beauty of the lily of the valley. The deep greenish-blue and white ceramics further enhance its elegance. Between the motifs, small floral reliefs are applied, adding a soft, lace-like impression, making this a truly charming series.
