Antique Round Large Plate, Longwy, Muguet (Lily of the Valley) B
This is an antique large platter from the Longwy Lily of the Valley series.
A large platter that allows you to fully appreciate the beauty of the lily of the valley. While it has a strong presence, its modest beauty is truly that of the lily of the valley.
The lily of the valley is also known as "Kimikagesou" (Shadow-watching grass), evoking the image of a beautiful and modest woman who cherishes her loved ones and quietly watches over them from the shadows.
The lily of the valley, with its rustic and understated beauty, has long been famous in France as "the flower that brings happiness" or "the flower that brings happiness again." May 1st is "fête du muguet," a day to give lilies of the valley to loved ones. Also, because its veiled appearance resembles a bride, it is a flower often given at weddings.
The design evokes the modest beauty of the lily of the valley. The deep greenish-blue and white ceramics enhance its elegance. Between the patterns, a small floral relief is applied, adding a soft, lace-like impression to this charming series.
Although cutlery marks can be seen, this large platter is in very good condition with no cracks or chips.
