Antique Cup & Saucer St. Clement Emile Gallé Libellule (Dragonfly) B
This is an antique cup and saucer from the Saint Clement Pottery, the Libellule series.
The "Libellule" series from Saint Clement Pottery was designed by the master of Art Nouveau, Émile Gallé.
"Libellule" means "dragonfly" in French.
During the Art Nouveau period, natural motifs were frequently incorporated into art and crafts.
Its charm lies in its warm design, featuring hand-painted flowers and adorable insects, as if it jumped out of a picture book.
Particularly eye-catching are the distinctive form and the beautifully designed handle.
This cup and saucer has a strong presence and is a work of art even when simply displayed.
As this is an antique item, please forgive any minor scratches or dirt.
Condition: There are small chips (approx. 1-2mm) on the cup handle and rim. There is also a chip on the footring, but it does not affect the visible surface.
There are also protrusions inside the cup that occurred during manufacturing, but the appearance is clean and the condition is relatively good. The saucer is in very good condition with no chips or cracks.
Sizes: Cup: approximately 11.5cm x 9cm x 5cm high (6cm including handle)
Saucer: approximately 13.5cm diameter x 2.4cm high
Period: Believed to have been produced around the late 19th century.
Given the "KG (Keller & Guérin)" mark, it is presumed to have been made after Émile Gallé left Saint Clement Pottery.
