This is an antique coffee cup from Badonviller's Tokio series.
This cup is from around 1920.
"Tokio" refers to Tokyo, Japan, and the design depicts Japanese buildings, landscapes, and plants.
Japonism gained attention at the 1878 Paris Exposition. Afterwards, through repeated Franco-Japanese agreements and treaties, mutual culture, history, art, and aesthetics spread among the people.
Japan, a foreign country across the distant seas.
The design, reminiscent of a beautiful and mystical world from a fairy tale, seems to embody longing and imagination for Japan.
It's a wonderful cup that allows you to rediscover the charm and beauty of Japan from a different perspective.
It's in good condition with some signs of use.
Size: 10cm x 8cm x height 5cm
