Antique Round Deep Plate, U&C Sarreguemines, Geranium
This is an antique round deep platter, U&C Sarreguemines Geranium.
It is a series produced at the Utzschneider Pottery in Sarreguemines in the 1890s.
In France, bright red and pink geraniums have long been seen on windowsills and in potted plants. Geraniums, popular for their refreshing scent, also have insect repellent properties, which is why they have often been placed by windows since ancient times.
Geraniums are very familiar to French people. At the end of their slender, delicate stems, they bear many small, pretty star-shaped flowers. Their visual cuteness is one of the reasons they are loved.
This platter beautifully expresses the delicacy and loveliness of geraniums. The gentle design is as if freshly picked flowers have been gently placed on the plate. The rim, edged with small geranium flower patterns, moderately defines the outline of the plate.
The ivory and deep green colors create a calm atmosphere.
There are craquelure and stains, but no chips or cracks.
This is a plate where you can enjoy the antique charm.
Because of its depth, it is also cute for piling up fruits and other items.
