Antique Oval Platter HBCM

An antique Creil et Montereau oval platter.

Creil and Montereau opened in the 18th century. In 1840, they merged to form the pottery company Creil et Montereau. Then, in 1920, they merged with Choisy-le-Roi, and the company name became HBCM.

A glossy ivory plate features blue flowers with abundant petals like nigella. The green lines on the rim combine to evoke a familiar natural scene, like a garden.

The raised patterns and color blending, indicative of handcrafted work, convey warmth.

There is crazing throughout and some minor stains, but no chips or cracks.

There are some uneven spots in the glaze from manufacturing.
