This is an antique oval plate from the Onnaing pottery, Eglantines series.

Eglantines refers to wild roses.
The dynamically depicted bouquet and the intricate border decorations beautifully adorn the plate.

The Onnaing pottery was located in Onnaing, a town in northern France, close to Belgium. It was particularly famous for its barbotine ware and operated from 1821 to 1938.

This particular series does not have the usual backstamp. Furthermore, instead of "Terre de fer" (ironstone), it is marked "Ivoire" (ivory), which suggests it was a special edition. (Ivoire means ivory, implying that the clay used was close to a cream color.)

The cream-colored plate, with its discoloration and crazing, has developed a wonderful antique atmosphere.

Condition: There is crazing throughout and discoloration, but no chips or cracks, so it is in good condition.
Size: Approximately 33cm x 25cm x 3.5cm high
Period: Believed to be late 19th century.
