Antique Compotier Longwy Muguet (Lily of the Valley) A
This is an antique compote dish from the Longwy factory's Lily of the Valley series.
Tall compote dishes are invaluable for adding rhythm to your table. We also recommend decorating them with dried flowers.
Lily of the Valley is also known as "Kimikage-sou" (shadow of you grass), evoking the image of a beautiful and modest woman who thinks of her loved ones and quietly watches over them from the shadows.
With its rustic and understated beauty, Lily of the Valley has long been known in France as "the flower that brings happiness" or "the flower that brings happiness again." May 1st is "fête du muguet," a day when people give lilies of the valley to their loved ones. Also, because its shape resembles a bride wearing a veil, it is often given as a gift at weddings.
This pattern evokes the modest beauty of the lily of the valley. The deep greenish-blue and white ceramics further enhance its elegance. Between the patterns, a small floral relief is applied, adding a soft, lace-like impression, making this a truly charming series.
This piece has many crazing and stains, giving it a rich antique feel.
