The lily of the valley is also known as "Kimikagesou" (Shadow Grass), evoking the image of a beautiful and modest woman who thinks of her loved one and gently watches over them from the shadows.

With its simple and understated beauty, the lily of the valley has long been known in France as "the flower that brings happiness and brings back happiness." May 1st is "fête du muguet," a day to give lilies of the valley to loved ones. It is also a popular flower for weddings, as its veiled appearance resembles a bride.
