Antique cup & saucer St. Clément Emile Gallé Libellule E
This is an antique cup & saucer from the Saint Clement faience factory, from the Libellule series.
The "Libellule" (dragonfly) series from the Saint Clement faience factory was designed by Art Nouveau master Émile Gallé.
"Libellule" means "dragonfly" in French.
During the Art Nouveau period, natural motifs were often incorporated into art and crafts.
The charm of this series lies in its warm design, featuring hand-painted flowers and adorable insects, as if plucked from a picture book.
Particularly striking are the distinctive form and the beautifully designed handle.
This cup and saucer has a strong presence, beautiful enough to be displayed on its own.
As this is an antique item, please forgive any minor scratches or dirt.
Condition: There is a small chip on the rim of the cup and a hairline crack near the handle, but they are not noticeable. It is in relatively good condition.
The saucer shows crazing due to age, but there are no chips or cracks, and it remains in very good condition.
Size: Cup: approximately 11.5cm x 9cm x 5cm high (6cm including handle)
Saucer: approximately 13.5cm diameter x 2.4cm high
Period: Believed to have been produced around the late 19th century.
Given the "KG (Keller & Guérin)" mark, it is presumed to have been made after Émile Gallé left the Saint Clement factory.
