Antique Dessert Plate, Longwy, Muguet (Lily of the Valley), H
This is an antique dessert plate from the Longwy Lily of the Valley series.
A versatile dessert plate. You'll be enchanted by the beautiful lily of the valley crown-like design.
The lily of the valley is also known as "Kimikage-sou" (shadow of the lord), evoking the image of a beautiful and modest woman who thinks of her loved one and gently watches over them from the shadows.
Known for its rustic and understated beauty, the lily of the valley has long been famous in France as "the flower that brings happiness and brings happiness again." May 1st is "fête du muguet," a day to give lily of the valley to loved ones. Also, because it resembles a veiled bride, it is a flower often given at weddings.
The design evokes the modest beauty of the lily of the valley. The deep greenish-blue and white ceramic further enhance its elegance. Between the patterns, a relief of small floral motifs is applied, adding a soft, lace-like impression, making it a very charming series.
There is crazing. The plate is in good condition with no chips or cracks.
