This is an antique jardinière from Gien Faience (Gien Kiln), from the Gien Renaissance series.

From Gien Faience, a leading pottery manufacturer representing France, comes this beautiful antique jardinière from the late 19th century.

What is a Jardinière?
"Jardinière" originates from "jardinier," the French word for "gardener," and originally referred to a decorative planter or plant pot cover used to display potted plants indoors.
However, this beautiful vessel has been widely loved not only for flowers but also for fruits, candies, potpourri, and more, serving as a decorative item to brighten up tables and cabinets.
Elegant uses for a Jardinière:
・Fill it with potpourri to create an elegant aromatic space.
・Fill it with candies or baked goods for hospitality.
・Place it in the center of a table as a fruit bowl to adorn your dining setting.
・Simply display it as an objet d'art on a cabinet or mantelpiece to add a French chic accent.

Hand-painted Renaissance-style decoration
This jardinière features elegant wavy edges and a lovely scalloped base that supports them.
The decoration applied throughout is a graceful Renaissance-style design.
Classical motifs, garlands of fruits reminiscent of abundance, and a central medallion are carefully painted in vibrant colors.
Hues of blue, orange, and yellow create a nostalgic and dignified atmosphere of the late 19th century.

Condition: Minor scratches and scuffs are visible on the rim, but they are not noticeable during use.
There are no significant chips or cracks, making it in very good antique condition.
The vibrant hand-painted colors are also beautifully preserved.
