This is an antique deep dish from the Onnaing pottery, Eglantines series.

Eglantines means wild roses.
The dynamically drawn bouquet and the delicate decorative trim beautifully adorn the plate.

The Onnaing pottery was located in Onnaing, a town in northern France, close to Belgium. It was particularly famous for its barbotine ware and existed from 1821 to 1938.

This particular series does not have the usual backstamp. Furthermore, instead of "Terre de fer" (ironstone), it has "Ivoire" (ivory) marked, leading us to believe it was a special edition. (Ivoire means ivory, which likely refers to the use of a clay close to cream color.)

The cream-colored plate, with its discoloration and crazing, creates a lovely antique atmosphere.
Condition: Crazing and discoloration are visible, but there are no chips or cracks, indicating good condition.

Size: Diameter 25cm x Height 5cm

Era: Late 19th century
