Antique Deep Plate, Longwy Muguet (Lily of the Valley) A

This is an antique deep plate from the Muguet (lily of the valley) series by Longwy Pottery.

The lily of the valley is also known as "Kimikage-sou" (shadow of my beloved), evoking the image of a beautiful and modest woman who cherishes her loved ones and watches over them gently from the shadows.

With its rustic and understated beauty, the lily of the valley has long been a beloved flower in France, known as "the flower that brings happiness" or "the flower that brings happiness again." May 1st is also known as "fête du muguet," a day when people give lilies of the valley to their loved ones. Furthermore, because its appearance resembles a bride wearing a veil, it is a popular flower to give at weddings.

This design evokes the modest beauty of the lily of the valley. The deep greenish-blue and white pottery further enhance its elegance. Between the patterns, small floral reliefs are applied, adding a soft, lace-like impression, making this a truly charming series.
