French Vintage CHANTILLY Asparagus Plate / Divided Plate
This is a vintage asparagus plate that graced traditional French dining tables.
From the 19th to the early 20th century, France dedicated itself to the art of eating asparagus beautifully and deliciously, leading to the creation of many such specialized dishes.
■ Design and Features
・Functionally beautiful divider: The indentation at the bottom of the plate is for holding sauce (Hollandaise sauce or vinaigrette). By arranging asparagus in the larger space above, the sauce doesn't mix with the asparagus until just before eating, allowing you to savor the natural taste of the ingredients.
・Elegant relief: The delicate relief adorning the rim and the wavy form cast elegant shadows on the white porcelain.
■ Recommended Uses
Besides asparagus, it's perfect for combinations of "main + dip" such as assorted appetizers, gyoza or dim sum, sashimi, scones and jam. It also makes a lovely interior accent as a tray for keys or accessories.
【Condition】Overall, beautiful crazing (fine crackle patterns on the glaze surface), characteristic of vintage pottery, is visible.
There are no chips or lines (cracks), and it is in very good condition with little signs of use.
