Vintage Pedestal Plate Digoin & Sarreguemines Agreste

This is an Agreste series footed plate from the Digoin & Sarreguemines kiln.

"Agreste" means "rural landscape" or "rustic" in French.
As the name suggests, the center and rim of the plate feature lovely wildflowers found on French country roads, such as poppies, campanulas, thistles, and daisies, depicted like a bouquet.

The elegant flower-rimmed design, the warm, hand-drawn-like flora, and the red line on the rim that tightens the overall look.
Its charm lies in the exquisite balance of unpretentious beauty coexisting with glamour.
The fact that each flower adorning the rim shows a different expression is a delightful point that reveals the playfulness of the artisans of the time.

With a height of 3.5cm, this footed type has a moderate presence and can be used not only for serving baked goods but also as a serving plate to beautifully present main dishes.
