Vintage Compotier Digoin & Sarreguemines Agreste

This is a vintage compotier from the Digoin & Sarreguemines pottery, Agreste series.

In French, "Agreste" means rustic, simple, or pastoral.

The bouquets painted on the plate, featuring poppies, campanulas, thistles, and daisies, are all plants commonly seen in the French countryside.

Their unpretentious, simple beauty adorns the fluted-rim plate.

The red line around the rim subtly defines the space and seems to enhance its splendor.

Perhaps another reason for its popularity is the playful spirit of the creator, evident in details like the different flowers adorning the rim of each plate.

Condition: There is a large chip on the rim of the back, but it does not affect the front.
