Vintage Plate with Legs - Sarreguemines Messidor
This is a footed plate from the vintage Salins Messidor series.
Manufactured between 1950 and 1960, this series is characterized by its charming hand-painted, gentle aesthetic.
The rim is rhythmic and soft, like petals. A deep crimson border accentuates this line, creating an appropriate sense of tension.
The wheat ears and flowers are vividly depicted, conveying the joy of harvest.
The deep, purplish-red color is subdued and creates a mature impression. As a result, despite the large pattern, it harmonizes beautifully without being overpowering.
Its height naturally adds a three-dimensional effect to your coordination. You'll want to enjoy it by placing baked goods, cakes, or fruits on it.
The stamp on the back reads "E.C.", which is likely an abbreviation for Edouard Charbonnier. Edouard Charbonnier was the son of Robert Charbonnier of the Longchamp pottery and served as president of the Salins pottery from 1912 to 1968.
There is some crazing with light staining, but it is in very good condition with little sign of use.
