Vintage Small Frame 10cm x 12cm with Silk Painting
Vintage framed silk painting - Portrait of a melancholic woman
This work is one of the masterpieces of Jean-Baptiste Greuze, an 18th-century French painter.
Housed in the Louvre Museum, the original painting is titled "La cruche cassée" in French.
The woman depicted in the work, with her disheveled hair and dress, broken pitcher, and scattered rose petals, is interpreted as symbolizing the "loss of innocence."
While it appears at first glance to be a painting of a pretty girl, it is said to contain a moral lesson in its background.
The retro gold frame further enhances the beautiful image printed on silk.
You can enjoy it as you like, by placing it on a display shelf or arranging it on a wall with other frames.
