Vintage Deep Plate Salins Messidor E
This is a deep plate from the vintage Salins Messidor series.
Produced between 1950 and 1960, the series is charming with its hand-painted, gentle aesthetic.
The rhythmic, soft rim is like flower petals. A deep crimson border highlights its lines, creating a subtle tension.
Ears of wheat and flowers are vividly depicted, conveying the joy of harvest.
The deep, purplish-red color is subdued and mature, so despite the large pattern, it doesn't overpower but harmonizes beautifully.
It's a lovely plate that you'll want to display like a painting.
The stamp on the back reads E.C., which is believed to be an abbreviation for Edouard Charbonnier. Edouard Charbonnier was the son of Robert Charbonnier of Longchamp Pottery and served as president of Salins Pottery from 1912 to 1968.
There is crazing. It is in very good condition with no chips or cracks and minimal signs of use.
