Vintage Deep Plate, Saran, Messidor H
This is a vintage deep plate from the Salins Messidor series.
Manufactured between 1950 and 1960, its charm lies in its hand-painted, gentle aesthetic.
The rim is rhythmic and soft, like flower petals. A deep crimson border accentuates this line, creating a sense of refined tension.
Ears of wheat and flowers are vividly depicted, conveying the joy of harvest.
The deep, purplish-red color is subdued and mature, so despite the large pattern, it is not overly assertive and blends beautifully.
It's a lovely plate that you'll want to display like a painting.
The stamp on the back reads "E.C.," which is believed to be an abbreviation for Edouard Charbonnier. Edouard Charbonnier was the son of Robert Charbonnier of the Longchamp pottery and served as president of the Salins pottery from 1912 to 1968.
Fine crazing is present throughout. There are no chips or cracks, and it is in very good condition with little sign of use.
Size: Diameter 24.5cm x Height 3cm
