Vintage Soup Tureen, Villeroy & Boch Fleurs des champs
This is a vintage soup tureen from the Villeroy & Boch "Fleurs des champs" series.
"Fleurs des champs" means "wildflowers" in French.
As the name suggests, a charming bouquet of wildflowers, including poppies, Canterbury bells, daisies, and cornflowers, is delicately depicted in the center of the dish.
Similar designs for this series can also be found from the French Digoin & Sarreguemines pottery,
but this Villeroy & Boch piece is characterized by its refined atmosphere.
Of particular note is its distinctive decagonal shape.
Unlike typical floral rims, its clean, beautiful lines add an elegant accent to any dining table.
Furthermore, the red border line beautifully tightens the overall design, further highlighting the splendor of the wildflowers.
Condition: There is crazing due to age and some staining on the inside, but the exterior is in good condition with no chips or cracks.
